Cake Pops Disaster!
While spending Christmas at my grandma's house, I thought it would be fun to make cake pops with my brother and little cousins. I love reading Bakerella's blog (well more like I love looking at the pictures and never read the actual instructions!).
First I baked a cake...

Then I broke it up (hint, you're supposed to wait until it's completely cooled...which I did not!).

Next I added some frosting (again, I did this while hot...mistake!).

Then I formed the cake/frosting mix into balls and froze them (no picture, but this was also the incorrect way to do it).

While they were in the freezer I put some chocolate on the ends of the lollypop sticks and let them set (you're supposed to put them straight into the unfrozen cake balls and then freeze them...opps!).

Next, I burned the chocolate...probably should have used a real double boiler!

And then we decorated!

And ate them with a fork in a bowl!

After all this, I actually read the directions! If you want to make real cake pops, I suggest following Bakerella's directions BEFORE you start making them!

Shutterfly Christmas Cards
This winter (technically it's not even winter yet, however I'm currently trapped inside as Snowmageddon rages outside! Seriously, the 4th largest storm in recorded history for Minneapolis is taking place as we speak!) has been quite busy for me (thanks to grad school, work, and a broken dishwasher).
In fact, I was thinking it was going to be the first time I would skip out on sending Christmas cards. I was quite sad about this as I L O V E sending and receiving Christmas cards, especially photo Christmas cards. That is until the wonderful Shutterfly offered a promotion for 50 free cards!
You see, just yesterday I received my first Shutterfly photo book that I made as a Christmas present for my dad. It is so awesome! Totally exceeded my expectations and I cannot wait to give it to him! It was so easy to make (especially since my wonderful husband edited all my pictures for me!) and it arrived in the mail quickly. You can see it (although it's so much better in person) here...

Now I better get outside in the blizzard and take some fun pictures to use for my Christmas cards!

State Fair
It's state fair time (which is a BIG deal in MN...I think I've been to the CA state fair once in my life). I'm not a huge fan of the fair (hot, crowded, dirty, smelly, etc.), but my husband is.
It was our date night and he called to give me a clue that a band with the the letter B as in Boys, the number 2, and the letter M as in Men were going to be at the fair that night. Going to the fair knowing I'd get to see Boyz II Men was pretty exciting!
Before the show we decided to get some "dinner." So, we started off with the world's best french fries.
Then we went to check out the baby animal barn. I love the baby animals! I want to bring them all home with me.

This cow was born 4 hours ago! They separate it from it's mother right after birth. Poor baby cow. It reminded me of a giant Lucy and Shelly.
Walking around we came across these awesome things. Not sure what they're called, but I totally want to go in one.

We opted for the cone, but we still could not finish them. That was the end of "dinner." And the beginning of a big stomach ache!

We decided the next part of "dinner" should be Martha's cookies. Everyone was walking around with a pail of them.
Then if was off to watch Boyz II Men. They were awesome! Seriously. I don't know why they aren't on the radio anymore.
It was a great date night!
